Olympic Torch Relay Celebrations
Monday will be filled with things to do in downtown Owen Sound in anticipation of the Olympic Torch Relay Celebrations at City Hall Square starting at 6:00 PM. There will be a huge stage with local entertainment as well as special guests, climaxing with the Olympic Torch being led through our beautiful Festival of Northern Lights and lighting the cauldron on stage! It will be an evening of free entertainment, featuring dancers, choristers, musicians, and some of the best talent in the area. The Market building will also be open, showcasing local crafters demonstrating their art. City Hall, 808 2nd Ave. East Owen Sound.

But the fun doesn’t end there… the flame is staying over night in our fair city.
Tuesday, December 29 we’ll be having a Torch Send Off Ceremony.
There will be a special send-off for the torchbearer on the waterfront near the Chi-Cheemaun ferry. An aboriginal elder will hold a sun-rise ceremony and bless the Olympic Flame and its bearer before they head east to their next destination. Visitor Information Centre & MS Chi-Cheemaun.
